5 Hydration Frustrations at Music Festivals (& how to fix them)

5 Hydration Frustrations at Music Festivals (& how to fix them)

You've got your lineup, your fits, and your squad sorted. But if your water situation isn't dialed in, a hot festival day can go sideways fast. Here are the five most common hydration headaches — and exactly what to pack to avoid them!

01 — NO WATER ACCESS, AND BOTTLED WATER IS COSTING A FORTUNE

Nothing kills the vibe faster than waiting in line at a drink vendor just to pay $5 for a small plastic bottle. Festival water infrastructure is notoriously patchy — not every stage has a tap nearby, and when you find one, there's usually a crowd around it. By the time you've sorted water, you've missed the drop.

The fix: Bring your own supply with a Lunchbox Hydration Pack so that you can fill up and stay hydrated in the crowd for hours! Less wasted time in lines and hydration by your side when you need it most.

02 — YOUR WATER IS BODY TEMPERATURE BY 11AM

A scorching festival afternoon and a mouthful of warm water are deeply miserable together. Standard plastic bottles left in the sun turn into something approaching a hot toddy. Hydration stops being refreshing and starts feeling like a chore — so you drink less, and feel worse.

The fix: Every Lunchbox Hydration Pack features an insulated dedicated water bladder compartment that keeps your water cool for hours, even under direct sun. Ice in the morning, cool water all afternoon — that's the standard.

03 — THE WATER STATION WATER TASTES GENUINELY AWFUL

Free water refill stations are a festival godsend — in theory. In practice, the water often tastes heavily chlorinated, earthy, or just plain off. It's safe to drink but unpleasant enough that people naturally drink less.

The fix? Attach a Lunchbox water filter directly between your bladder and hose. It clips on in seconds and strips out the funk from any tap or refill station, so every sip tastes clean — wherever you're filling up from.

04 — YOU ALWAYS SEEM TO RUN OUT OF WATER

Dancing in the heat, walking thousands of steps between stages, dealing with the sun — festival days are genuinely demanding. A standard 2L bladder may not cut it for our thirstier friends.

We have an easy solution for that! Upgrade to a Lunchbox 3.0L bladder — available in screw cap or thumb lock, whichever suits your style. It gives you more range between refills, so you can actually focus on the music instead of rationing sips. And yes, it fits in the same insulated bladder compartment no problemo!

05 — YOUR BLADDER GETS MOLDY AND NEEDS REPLACING

Hydration bladders are notoriously awkward to clean properly. The long hose, the narrow reservoir opening, the hard-to-reach corners — rinse it out once and think you're done, only to open it next festival season to find black mould inside. At that point, most people bin it and start over.

The fix: Pick up the Lunchbox Cleaning Kit. It's designed specifically for bladders and hoses — easy to use, thorough, and keeps everything fresh and mould-free so your setup is ready to go whenever the next festival rolls around.

SORT YOUR HYDRATION BEFORE THE GATES OPEN

A good festival shouldn't come down to whether you remembered to buy enough bottled water or drank any water at all. Get the right kit, fill up once, and spend the rest of your energy exactly where it belongs — in front of the stage.
